Evening Everyone

Hope all is good this week.

A few congratulations to start with this week; firstly a huge congratulations to club member Alan O’ Brien who took 16th place in the top 20 Fastest marathon times achieved by Irish runners in 2017 for his 2:28:53 in Berlin, fantastic achievement well done to Alan.

In addition to this 4 Eagle AC Athletes have been named on the Cork team selection for Athletics Ireland National Masters and Intermediate Cross-Country Championships 2018 to be held in Galway on Sunday February 11th 2018:
Alan O Brien and Vivian Foley named for the M35 squad
Pat Twomey and Richard Piotrowski named for the M65 men’s squad
Congratulations to the 4 guys on their well deserved selection.

This Saturday the 27th January brings our club awards night and more info on this below; it is always a great social night out for the club and an opportunity to get to know your fellow club members. Then of course there are the awards so if you are nominated in any category be sure to be there to find out the results! Hopefully we will see as many people as possible there on the night.

There are two reminders below also, if you have not yet paid your membership for this year please do so ASAP as it is hoped that all membership will be up to date by the end of January.

Finally please Save the date: Sunday 18th February 2018 at 11am
The clubs annual race the Carrigaline 5 Mile Road Race is coming up in just over 3 weeks please keep the date free we will be looking for as many club members as possible to help on the day. There will be plenty more info on this in the near future.

Club Awards Night:
The Eagle AC 2017 annual club awards night is this Saturday the 27th January
Start time 8pm, with the awards starting @ 9pm and there will be food served afterwards.
Hope to see you all there.

Membership renewal:
Club membership renewal fees are now due for 2018. (€50 for individuals and €60 for families)
Please aim to have all club membership paid up by the end of January!
New members that joined the Club since 01st September 2017 are automatically paid up for 2018 also.

By far the easiest way to pay is via our PayPal option on the Club website here:- https://eagleac.net/membership/
*A PayPal Account is not required only a Credit/ Debit card needed.

If this is not possible then fees can also be collected as follows:
Post a cheque to our Treasurer, Kevin Sievewright (details on the website). please use this as a last resort we don’t want poor Kevin buried under a mountain of post!

Tempo Run Thursdays
Thank you to those who have agreed to lead the tempo sessions until March, these are great sessions and it is great to have the commitment there to keep them going while the evenings are dark.

Mallow Transfers:
Transfers for this event are available until Sunday 25th February 2018. An admin fee of €5 will be charged for transferring your entry. This is payable by the person you transfer the registration to.

Spring Marathons.
If anyone is interested in a spring marathon Eddie Trindle Ken Nyhan are heading to Hamburg at the end of April. Marathon is on Sunday, April 29th. Give Eddie a shout if interested. Current price is €80. Guaranteed entry. Direct flights from Dublin. Website is:

Tempo Run, Rochestown Road (Thursdays)
It is advised that members participating in the Thursday Tempo runs wear hi viz clothing, along with either a head-torch or some form of lighted armbands. Could members also please keep to the left hand side of the path when completing tempo sessions.
(Do a warm up of at least a mile on your own beforehand).

Cork City Marathon News
Entries are being taken for the 2018 Cork City Marathon which will take place on Sunday 3rd June. The online fee to enter the full marathon is €65 until the 31st March. The cost for the half is €42. For further details see here: http://www.corkcitymarathon.ie/entry
