Karen Bevan( and Lily!) at the prize giving

14 club members travelled to scenic West Cork on Friday evening for the annual Ardfield 10k Road Race.  Ardfield is located just outside Clonakilty.  It turned out to be well worth the trip for Karen Bevan who recorded her first race win at the event. Karen ran a great time of 43.22 on what was a challenging course. Also picking up a podium spot was Mark Smith, who claimed 2nd spot overall in a time of 34.50.

Alan O’Brien well clear of the field!

Congratulations to club member Alan O’ Brien who had a very impressive win at the Run Killarney Half Marathon last weekend. Alan won the race in a time of 1.09.13, well over 1 minute clear of the rest of the field. Fellow Cork runner Michael Morgan ( St. Finbarr’s) finished in 2nd spot with Eagle AC’s Vivian Foley finishing in 3rd place with a  time of 1.11.05. (PB!) Brilliant to see 2 Eagle members on the podium, well done!

Well done to all other members who took part in the event, no club names are listed in the results. A number of members were on pacing duty for the day and they finished bang on target!! Well done all.

The third race of the Eagle AC Summer Series took place last Thursday in warm , dry conditions. A huge number of members participated with 42 members spotted in the results.

Damian Kenneally was first Eagle home with a brilliant 50 second pb of 26.51. Catherine Murphy, continuing her great year was 6th overall with a time of 33.46.

There were also category prizes for Helen Cronin, Karen Bevan, Elaine Guinane, Pat O Connor and Richard Piotrowski.

The club also won the prize for largest club attendance at the race! Well done all and congrats to Coachford Family Festival on the organization of a great race for a very worthy cause.

The 4th race in the series is the Kinsale 5 Miler which takes place on Friday, 2nd August.
