Eagle AC members medal at the National Masters Cross Country Championships

alan-richard

Well done to club members Alan O’Brien and Richard Piotrowski who won medals at the 2018 National Cross Country Championships in Galway.

Alan was 2nd in the overall National Masters competition -as well as winning a Silver individual medal in the M35 category. Richard took a Gold by finishing 1st in the M70 category.

Both won team Gold medals in their respective categories in the inter county competition.

Report from Ken Higgs…The National Masters XC championship held last Sunday in Clarinbridge in typical winter XC conditions – bitterly cold and a quagmire of a course.

The club had four members running.
Individually, there were two outstanding performances, Firstly by Alan O’Brien who came second overall (silver medal) in the Masters race and also won gold medal for the M35 category. Secondly by Richard Piotrowski who won gold in the M70 category.

The club won the team gold medal in the M65/70 race with Richard Piotrowski (4th), Pat Twomey (7th) and Ken Higgs (11th) ..(with St Finbarrs AC and St Abbans AC getting silver and bronze respectively).

In addition , Alan, Richard and Pat won gold medals as part of the two winning Cork County teams.
So all in all a very successful day out for the club.
