How long have you been running what made you take it up: About 18 Months. My Brother and Mother both run so I guess it was only natural I would follow in their footsteps. My Dad has even started going for the occasional jog now too, maybe he felt left out lol.

Favourite race distance to run: As they say, “10 miles is the classic distance”. For me, its the perfect combination of speed and endurance.

What is your main goal for this year: PB in 3 key distances up to Half Marathon in length, however, considering I’m also looking to PB in Dublin its fairly broad. If you put me under pressure to pick one, I’ll prob go with a Sub-30 min 5 mile.

Your best race/most memorable racing moment to date: Definitely not my best race from a performance point of view but has to be my first and only Marathon, Dublin 2016. Was absolutely blown away by the atmosphere and support on the day. Incredible experience!! Again, it was a family affair which made it even sweeter.

Tell us something most people might not know about you: If most people don’t know something about me it’s for a reason so I’ll leave it at that 😉

Biggest heroes (sporting or non-sporting): Cork Hurlers at present. Nothing gets the blood going like watching your fellow Cork men giving it their all for the pride of the County. Up the Rebels!

One bit of advice you would give to someone thinking of taking up running:  Challenge yourself. Push yourself beyond your comfort zone and you’ll get the most from it.

3 things you would take with you onto a desert island: Tom Hanks because he know what he’s doing. I’m guessing he might insist we bring Wilson. Maybe a little paint in case Wilson fades and Tom goes AWOL.

Sports First Aid Course…July 2017

Sports First Aid Course : Four members of the club recently completed a Sports First Aid course ….Ed Fitzgerald, Gerard Down, Gary Gibbons and Grace O’Leary.

JessicaMi

The club paid for the four to do this course with the aim of having a pool of people who are trained in the use of a defibrillator and to have a basic understanding of first aid. We should have two more members completing another course soon which will give a total of six for the year.
