British Masters Track Championships
Well done to Richard Piotrowski, who finished in Third Place in his Category in the British Masters, held at Alexander Stadium Perry Barr, Birmingham, last Sunday. Richard was unfortunately carrying a slight hamstring injury, but managed an excellent 20:43 in the 5000M, narrowly missing out on second place by just 4 seconds.

Well done to Mick Dooley who took part in this 5k in Portlaoise a couple of weeks ago. This race is an annual inter prisons event named in memory of a colleague of Micks.

Well done to club member Richard Piotrowski who finished 3rd at the British Masters 70 plus age group in the 5000m race on the track last weekend. The race was held at the Alexander Stadium Perry Barr in Birmingham and Richard ran a time of 20m 43s. Despite suffering with a slight pulled hamstring, he finished just 4 sec behind the 2nd place runner.

A total of 27 club members took part in this years Shanagarry 5 mile road race, the second race of four in the 2017 Ballycotton Summer Series. Well done to Karen Bevan, Deirdre O’Callaghan, Tom Fox, Vivian Foley, John O’Callaghan & Frances O’Connor who managed to pick up category prizes.

Well done to club member Adelle O’Connor who won the Inniscarra 4 mile road race on Friday the 16th of June 2017. Adelle posted a time of 29:34 on the tough Ballyanley course that is known for some steep hills.

In total, the club had 9 members present.

The Cork City Marathon was held this year on Sunday the 4th of June and the club had a large number of members taking part. We had 13 members in the full marathon, 28 in the half-marathon and we also had 3 relay teams.

Cork City Marathon, Half Marathon & Relay 2017 Sunday June 4th 2017.

The main event this weekend has to be the Cork City Marathon, Half Marathon & Relay. As a club we are strongly represented across all three events, which is fantastic to see! We wish the very best of luck to Eagle AC members running in Sunday, and i’m sure there are plenty more assisting with stewarding & behind the scenes too. There is always such a great atmosphere around the city on marathon day, and no doubt with this year’s event being held on a Sunday event this will be even better. Be sure a give your fellow club runners a cheer or shout of encouragement should you see them & let’s keep the spirits high. We are lucky to be out there, lucky to be running & lucky to be a part of such a great event.

A huge crowd of 914 ran the John Buckley 5k last night at the Marina. There was a big Eagle turnout with a number of great PB’s recorded!
