talk_07oct2015_620pix

On Wednesday the 7th of October, almost 40 club members attended a talk titled ‘Training for Running’ which was presented by Trevor Woods who is the Exercise Physiologist with the UCC Department of Sport and Physical Activity, and also one of Ireland’s leading Tri-Athletes.

The topics covered on the evening were as follows………physiological traits and determinants, blood lactate levels, oxygen requirements, running form and efficiency, endurance, intensity of training, strength training, training plan overview, periodisation of training, running programmes and injury prevention. This was followed by an interesting Q&A session which covered even more material.

Thanks to Joe Roche for organising what was an informative evening for Eagle AC club members. Plans are in the pipeline for another talk over the Winter months.

Eagle team take Bronze in Munster Half-Marathon Championships

The Charleville Half-Marathon was held back on the 20th of September and it also doubled up as the 2015 Munster Half-Marathon Championships. While the individual and category results were released almost straight away, the results for the Munster Championships took a while longer longer to compile. They were released in the last week and they show that the Eagle AC mens O40 team took bronze in that category! Well done to Frank Hill, Colin O’Herlihy and Pat O’Connor who made up the team.
