Club Notes… by Karen Bevan & Team
We will have to start by congratulating club member Richard Piotrowski who was representing Britain and Northern Ireland in the World Masters Championships in Malaga yesterday, a great run by Richard lead his team to a Silver medal, more on this below.
I guess the countdown is on to the two upcoming Marathon events that we have several Club members involved in, with 10 days to left to the Berlin Marathon – hope you are all tapering well; and 50 Days to Dublin and hopefully the training is going well! Best wishes to all, hope things are going to plan, and sometimes these things do not go to plan but these are the highs and lows of marathon training- The fun is in the challenge!

St. Luke’s 5k Mahon
Plenty of Eagles out for tonight’s St Luke’s’ 5K, with a very close finish from the first 3 guys on the list below. Congratulations to Tom Fox taking 1st M50 spot and Neil Kingston taking 3rd M40 spot. There is an error in Frances’ result, where she is listed as a male, so I hope you checked this out just in case!

Valley Rovers 8k, Innishannon
Three Eagle members were spotted in this results of this 8k race which was held last Friday night. Ruairi Egan was the first Eagle home, finishing in 9th place overall. Dermot and Denis also finished well up the field.

Blarney Half marathon, Sunday 2nd September:
No results seem to be available for this low key run last weekend but spotted amongst the participants were – Pat O’Connor, Denis Carroll Colin Foley.
Dingle marathon half, Saturday 1st September:
No clubs are listed this year for the DIngle events but thanks to Mike McGrath for the feedback. Mike took 2nd M55 in the half, well done to Mike and apologies to anyone else not spotted in the 2 large fields.
Half Marathon in 1.36.06 for 2nd 0/55
Mike said that this was a race with fab scenery on a beautiful sunny day!
Ed Fitz was running as a 2hr pacer on the day finishing in a net time of 01:59:25, nice work Ed.
Cross Country
The World Masters Championships Malaga Spain, Cross country event. 05.09.2018
Huge congratulations to Eagle AC runner Richard Piotrowski who represented Britain and Northern Ireland on the M70 team for the 6 mile cross country event in the World Masters Championships in Malaga yesterday . Richard finished in 9th place overall and 1st in his team, leading them to a Silver medal for the team overall. Fantastic running as always from Richard.

Cross Country Season is just around the corner:
Cross Country season will be kicking off in the beginning of October. There will be a separate email sent out shortly about the club targeted events. If anyone would like to volunteer to feedback cross country results etc this would be very helpful.
For anyone who would like to give cross country a go before the season kicks off, the Cork Athletics Cross-Country Leagues 2018 have begun with the next events being held on September 15th at 1pm and September 29th at 1pm at the Cork Athletics Grounds, Slieveroe Riverstick
What’s up Next:
Coffee Run: We will aim for a coffee run perhaps the weekend of the 13/14th October or the 20/21st October before the Dublin Marathon, if anyone would like to lead this or suggest a route please do get in touch, we would love to have a few routes spread around the city that could be used on a rotational basis.
The Tempo Runs Return:
The Tempo runs are back again in line with the club Dublin Marathon Training programmes. Thanks very much to all of those who have offered to lead sessions.
