How long have you been running what made you take it up: I took up running early in 2012, I had tried a few times before but could never manage to get past 5k.
Favourite thing about running: I love the adventures it brings and the people you get to meet along the way.
Favourite race distance to run: Half Marathon (at the moment….)
What is your main goal for this year: I want to train well for and complete my first 50k Ultra in Portumna in June.
Your best race/most memorable racing moment to date: My most memorable race was the Dublin City Marathon in Oct ’16 (PB – 3:49). My first marathon in Dublin ‘15 was difficult (I know they’re not supposed to be easy) and I went into last year’s marathon to confirm that marathons were not for me and to leave it there. It was a completely different story on the day. I absolutely loved it from start to finish. That ruined my plans to leave marathons behind me!
Tell us something most people might not know about you: I’m a twin. No, we’re not identical and I’m older by 5 minutes.
Biggest heroes (sporting or non-sporting): Sonia O Sullivan – She has some great sporting achievements. I’ve attended a few of her talks and I like her style – she tells it like it is.
One bit of advice you would give to someone thinking of taking up running: Take it easy and enjoy it. Don’t try to rush the speed part, you’ll only get injured!
Other hobbies outside of running: Going to the gym, eating out and watching tv if I can get a chance!
3 things you would take with you onto a desert island: A boat and two oars.
