Hope you are all keeping well in this end of summer back to school week.

The Ballycotton Summer series has come to an end for another year well done to all who took part in these races this year. There was a great turn out of Eagle AC members for the final race last Thursday and great results too. 16 club members did all 4 races with 9 men and 3 women taking those much coveted top positions, Congratulations. Plenty more on this below.

A reminder for those of you who have not let Damian know if you can join us for a club BBQ on September 23rd. Please contact him so they can get an idea on numbers .

Lots of club new this week including club information talks, and plans for a social club run on the Waterford Greenway so please do read on many thanks to John for this.

Good Luck and the best of wishes to all running this weekend. There are plenty of events taking place from Kerry Way Ultra Ultra Lite, and the munster League in North Cork ( Ger has more on this below for you), to the Greenway Half Marathon in Waterford; there will be Eagles running far wide!
Enjoy it and hope all goes to plan.

Thanks as always to all who have contributed to the email this week.

Recommendation from Ed Fitz – Gingerbread Half marathon Sun 19th November
“Just a heads up on the Gingerbread run half marathon course in Portalington Co Laois. It was one of 13th different half courses I ran last year and absolutely the flattest, including Charlieville, that I have ever come across.Perfect PB territory. I think the journey took us about an hour thirty straight up the M8 and at €40 including t-shirt,medal and refreshments I thought it was good value. The race is currently at 70% according to their FB page and they do use pacers.
I just signed up again for this year”…. Ed Fitz

Club Talks Workshops : The club is currently looking at organising some talks and workshops over the next few months. Tracy Cotter and myself are working on these at the moment and we’re looking at three evenings… 27th Sept, Mid Nov Feb 2018. These will will cover a wide variety of subjects so there should be something for everyone.

Date : Wed 27th Sept 2017
Venue : Hotel in or near Cork City
The outline format will be as follows :
7pm : Mental Preparation for Road Running Marathons by Canice Kennedy, Sports Psychologist.
7:45pm : Q A Session
8:00pm : Tea Coffee Break.
8:20pm : Kevina Reel will give a practical presentation on the use of a foam roller and how to target key muscle areas for running.
9:30pm : Conclusion

Please note that there is a cover charge of €5 per head. Please note that we can only accommodate a certain number of people on the night. We may have to limit the numbers depending on the interest shown so it’s not just a case of wandering along and turning up. Fill out the survey to book your place if you are going.

Norman Kelly : There was a nice article recently online about club member Norman Kelly who takes part in a lot of adventure races… http://www.questadventureseries.com/norman-kelly-seasoned-racer/

Waterford Greenway Run : With the Dublin Marathon coming up at the end of October, I am organising a club run two weeks beforehand on the new Waterford Greenway on Sat 14th of October 2017. I want to get an idea of numbers before the end of August to see where we stand. (20 signed up as of the 31st of Aug)
